Heartland Regional Activities

The Heartland Regional Genetics Collaborative initially funded a pilot project entitled "Family History Day 2005 in Greater Kansas City". Please check our Pilot Projects for more information, and check the Conference page to access a poster on this project. This project developed and distributed video and newspaper public serve announcements on Family Health History Day, and developed a web site, Public Service announcement video, and newspaper ads:

This project is being expanded to the region. Press releases about family health history were developed and distributed in November 2006, to all Heartland states. In addition, this web site and a toll free number 1-888-881-8852 were established to provide access to information. Click on the links below to view the press releases:

This project will continue to coordinate efforts throughout the region to promote education and awareness of Family Health History, including working with Latino and native American community partners to develop promotional materials targeted to these populations, and collaborating with Genealogical societies to help promote Family Health History.
